Signing an important document is easier when every step is explained in the language you think in. Alam Lule, the Texas Notary Public behind SealTX, speaks English and Spanish and can communicate directly with every signer at the table, so nobody has to rely on a relative to translate the notarization process.
This is especially helpful for families where parents or grandparents are more comfortable in Spanish, for travel consent letters signed by both parents, and for businesses that serve Spanish-speaking customers.
Why a bilingual notary matters
A notary must be able to communicate directly with the signer to confirm identity and that the signer understands they are signing willingly. Texas guidance discourages notaries from relying on an interpreter for that communication. When the notary speaks the signer's language, that requirement is met naturally and the appointment feels calmer.
A Texas Notary Public is not a lawyer
In many Latin American countries, the Latin American legal title that sounds similar to "notary" belongs to a licensed attorney who can draft documents and give legal advice. A Notary Public in Texas is different. A Texas Notary Public is not an attorney, cannot give legal advice, cannot prepare or choose your documents, and cannot help with immigration matters. Texas law (Government Code §406.017) specifically protects consumers from this confusion.
SealTX notarizes documents you have already prepared. If you need advice about which document to use or how to fill it out, please consult a licensed Texas attorney.
Common documents we notarize in Spanish-speaking households
We can notarize many everyday documents once they are complete and unsigned, for example:
- Powers of attorney you already have prepared
- Minor travel consent letters signed by one or both parents
- Affidavits and sworn statements
- Vehicle bills of sale
- Contracts and business agreements
